SFAF and Project Open Hand Partner to Produce Dining Out For Life
SAN FRANCISCO, November 18, 2024–To broaden the reach and impact of the popular Dining Out For Life fundraising event, San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Project Open Hand will join forces in 2025 to serve the community a joint fundraiser spanning San Francisco and the East Bay. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
“We are thrilled to form this partnership in order to reduce fundraising expenses for both agencies, ensuring that as much of the funds raised go directly to support the direct services of both agencies,” said Amy S. Williams, Chief Philanthropy Officer for SFAF. “We know our communities look forward to supporting this event every year, and we are committed to doing our part to ensure the event continues in a fiscally responsible way moving into the future.”
Dining Out For Life is an annual dining fundraising event raising money for community-based organizations serving people living with or impacted by HIV. Held in collaboration with local restaurants, participants in the event are able to enjoy a meal knowing that a portion of the restaurant’s proceeds that evening will be donated to the benefiting organizations. Traditionally held on a mid-week evening, the partnership mutually benefits local restaurants who also see an increase in revenue brought to their locations from the event.
“Project Open Hand is excited to partner with San Francisco AIDS Foundation for the 2025 Dining Out For Life,” said Paul Hepfer, CEO for Project Open Hand (POH). “Our organizations were established in the 1980s in response to the, then emerging, AIDS epidemic. And, over the years, both SFAF and POH maintain an unwavering commitment to serving Bay Area residents affected by HIV. We look forward to collaborating with SFAF and invite our community to join us in supporting this worthy joint fundraising event.”
Funds raised from Dining Out For Life support the free HIV, sexual health, substance use, and community support services of SFAF, and the delivery of nutritious meals to community members living with HIV and AIDS through Project Open Hand.
