Celebrating the power of trans communities

This November, trans and gender expansive folx and their allies come together in solidarity–to uplift our existence, to celebrate our strengths, to remember and honor those in our community we have lost, and to raise awareness about all forms of violence and discrimination.

We recognize that at this moment before a momentous election day, so much is on the line for the trans community. Anti-trans rhetoric is at an all-time high, with rhetoric around gender-affirming care, trans participation in sports, and bathroom access taking center stage at political rallies and in campaign speeches. Somehow, words from the cruelest parts of the internet have made their way into everyday political discourse.

And unfortunately, it’s not just rhetoric. In recent years, anti-trans legislation has been passed in states across the country–limiting access to healthcare, preventing trans young people from participating in school sports, and requiring schools to out trans youth to their parents. Trans Legislation Tracker describes an “explosion” of anti-trans bills introduced this year, with 2024 the fifth consecutive record-breaking year for total bills. There are not enough ways to name how horrific, appalling, and dehumanizing these anti-trans bills are and the havoc they will cause for our trans community.

We need our communities now more than ever to fight back against transphobia, and promote the humanity of trans people everywhere.
