Volunteers Needed for Needle Exchange Program
Interested in volunteering?
HPP is a volunteer-driven program that relies on volunteers to staff our needle exchange sites. Volunteering at the sites is a direct way to affect exchangers' lives in a positive way. The philosophy of harm reduction and non-judgment are essential when interacting with exchangers.
There are several ways to volunteer:
- Site team member -- working a regular 2-hour site every week or every other week,
- Floater -- working more than one site, filling in when needed and arranging their schedule with the volunteer coordinator
- On Call -- working at one or more sites when there is a need for a last minute fill-in.
At the present time, new volunteers usually work as floaters/on-call until a spot on a team opens up.
HPP requests a 6 month minimum service. If you are interested, please contact hpp@sfaf.org.
Volunteers are also needed to help bag syringes for the sites. This is done in the office at a time convenient for the volunteer and supervising staff. If interested, please please contact hpp@sfaf.org.
