Building a Community of Passionate Participants
Our fundraising events raise millions of dollars each year for the programs and services of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. They also help build community and spark ongoing community dialogue about HIV/AIDS. We inspire participants in these events to do more for themselves and for others. Here's how you can run, ride, or walk to help end the AIDS pandemic and support your community at home and abroad.
AIDS/LifeCycle
AIDS/LifeCycle is a seven-day, 545-mile bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that benefits and is produced by both the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. Last June, more than 3,000 Cyclists and volunteer Roadies participated in the event, raising more than $12 million. This incredibly important event not only raises funds for HIV/AIDS services in San Francisco and Los Angeles but also raises community awareness that the AIDS pandemic is far from over. AIDS/LifeCycle highlights the vital role these two agencies play in battling the disease.
AIDS/LifeCycle 8 takes place May 31-June 6, 2009. If you'd like to learn more, please go to www.AIDSLifeCycle.org
AIDS Walk San Francisco
AIDS Walk San Francisco is one of the oldest AIDS fundraisers in the country and has raised more than $60 million over the last two decades. Held every July in Golden Gate Park, it brings together thousands of San Franciscans from all walks of life who are united in their commitment to end the human suffering caused by AIDS. Last year, we raised more than $4.5 million for the work of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and dozens of other AIDS service organizations throughout the Bay Area.
Seismic Challenge
If you are looking for new and exciting ways to get more involved and support the efforts of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, the
Seismic Challenge might be the perfect opportunity for you! Seismic Challenge is a two-day, 200-mile cycling fundraiser that will help the San Francisco AIDS Foundation prevent new HIV infections and promote health among people living with HIV. Be part of the Seismic Challenge on October 18th & 19th as it follows the magnificent coastal route of the San Andreas Fault from Mendocino County to San Francisco. The magnitude of this inaugural event will be measured by the hundreds of thousands of dollars that our cyclists will raise to fight HIV.

Leadership Recognition Dinner
The San Francisco AIDS Foundation's annual Leaderhip Recognition Dinner took place on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Fort Mason Festival Pavilion. Every year, the Dinner honors individuals and businesses who have made a significant impact in our ongoing battle to end the pandemic and the human suffering caused by HIV/AIDS.
This year, we honored Drew Altman of the Kaiser Family Foundation, Gilead Sciences, and San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty (photo left). All have done so much in the fight against HIV/AIDS, we were proud to honor their achievements.
